Counselling

I offer both time and space in which you are able to make positive changes to your life by exploring your past, present,

and future in order to learn ways of resolving issues and achieve your personal goals.  This can include:

  • depression and anxiety;

  • stress and how to work with it, additionally helping to reduce anxiety often associated with this;

  • loss, adjustment and bereavement;

  • feeling lost, frustrated or angry;

  • personal growth;

  • creativity and development.

I will take an active role in helping you to self heal if that is what is needed and empower you to reach your full potential.

Research and experience shows that one of the most important factors in the effectiveness of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and the client.  It is therefore important that you feel at ease and understood, and in order for you to be sure of this, I offer our first session free of charge so that you can make an informed choice about our potential for working together.

In future sessions I will encourage you to tell your story as it is for you, which may at times present discomfort, as this can often involve how you have been feeling about this.  However, in doing so, it presents opportunities for us to begin to understand your reactions and behaviours, resulting from your experiences.  We will therefore discuss ways of taking care of yourself throughout this process.

For you to gain maximum benefit from your counselling there will need to be a balance between making a commitment which is sensible for your life circumstances and the effectiveness of being able to make and maintain progress.  You are more likely to make more progress if you attend regularly.  On average the number of sessions attended are between 5 and 8, however some people are able to gain benefit from only one or two sessions.  For others, they may choose to attend for longer, however this will be reviewed at regular intervals to make sure that appropriate benefit is still being gained by you.
